Eau Claire (WQOW) - Dozens of people will be out of jobs in Eau Claire after an organization's decision to close several facilities.
Lutheran Social Services is closing seven residential facilities in Eau Claire for people with physical and cognitive disabilities. Four others will remain open. 44 employees will lose their jobs by mid-April.
LSS says it's unable to cover the costs of running the programs with the reimbursement it receives from managed care organizations. That includes Southwest Family Alliance which recently took over for Community Health Partnership.
Thirteen residents will be affected by the change. LSS says other providers are available to meet their needs.

Eau Claire (WQOW) – Dozens will be out of a job after an organizations decision to close several facilities.
In a letter to the City of Eau Claire, Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan says it will be permanently closing seven of its facilities in the area. They include Abbey Woods, Up North, Willow Bluff and Violet. The agency says the facilities are used to care for residents with physical and cognitive disabilities.
The letter says the closure is being prompted by the agency's financial analysis and recognition that it is unable to cover the cost of running the programs with the reimbursement it receives for services. As a result, 44 employees will lose their job. The agency expects to close on or by mid-April.
