VATICAN CITY (WKOW) -- Following the resignation announcement from Pope Benedict XVI on Monday, the Vatican now says, the pope does have a pacemaker.
The Vatican confirmed Benedict's use of the pacemaker on Tuesday. Officials says Benedict has had the device for years and the battery was replaced a few months ago in secret.
The pope announced yesterday that he'll be resigning at the end of this month because of his age and his health. The Vatican also says Benedict will have no role in selecting his successor. However, the Vatican plans to start the process of selecting a new pope in March, and hopefully have Benedict's successor in place by Easter.
