Eau Claire (WQOW) - Weekend rainfall has left some
businesses scrambling for salt.
The City of
Eau Claire says
it has handed out 450 warnings this winter to homes and businesses for not
clearing sidewalks. One local store says it has had a tough time recently
keeping up with demand for salt and sand. Pinehurst Hardware Hank in Eau Claire says Tuesday
they couldn't even get salt in the door before making a sale.
"This morning when
we went over to EC Grow to pick up a pallet of ice melt. The van pulled up out
front, and people saw our delivery with the doors open, and we sold twelve bags
this morning before we even pulled the pallet off the truck," said Alex
Bourdage, who owns Pinehurst Hardware Hank in Eau Claire.
The City of Eau Claire gives out a mix of salt and sand
for free to any interested residents. The mix is available across the street
from the central maintenance building on Forest Street.
