5 people escape fire on Madison's south side

MADISON (WKOW) -- Five people escaped a fire on Madison's south side Tuesday.

Firefighters were called to scene on Ocean Road just before 5 p.m.

Residents of the home say they heard a crackling noise coming from the lower level and discovered a fire in the wall.

They all got out without injury.

The fire caused approximately $80,000 damage to the structure and $10,000 damage to the contents in the home.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it appears unintentional.
