Eau Claire County (WQOW) - Six years after Eau Claire County sued a company the case is finally settled.
The county sued Softscape Inc. in 2006 for making false claims about a software system the firm was hired to develop and install for the human services department. The case went to the appeals court twice and was also appealed to the state supreme court which declined to hear it.
Now, the company has agreed to pay the county $825,000 to settle the suit. About a quarter of that will pay for the county's legal costs.
The case has delayed replacement of the 14-year-old software. New software is now set to be installed this spring.
