Early morning fire destroys shed in town of Union

Town of Union (WQOW) - A two-alarm fire destroys a  shed in Eau Claire County.

Township Fire Department was called out to a structure fire Friday morning around 2:00 a.m. No one was injured. The homeowner called it in, and when crews arrived on scene, the building was so large, and fully engulfed, that a second alarm was immediately called in. Crews from Altoona, Chippewa Fire District, and Elk Mound helped out.

"From my understanding it's just a large machine shed, and as you can see behind me it appears to be a total loss due to the involvement of the fire prior to our arrival," says Mark Porter, with Township Fire Department.

Water had to be pumped in from neighboring fire hydrants, and because the driveway is on an incline, it made for some slippery conditions. There's no word on what caused the fire or the cost. The shed was home to about 20 horses.
