Man who set Planned Parenthood fire gets 11 years in prison - WQOW TV: Eau Claire, WI NEWS18 News, Weather, and Sports

GREEN BAY (WKOW) -- The man convicted of setting a fire at a Planned Parenthood building apologized to employees before he was sentenced to 11 years in prison Thursday.

Francis Grady was convicted of arson last summer. He told investigators that voices of children in his head told him to start the fire at the Grand Chute facility. Abortions are performed at the Grand Chute Planned Parenthood. 

Grady said he used a hammer to break a window at the clinic and then poured gas from a plastic bottle and used a lighter to ignite the small fire in April. No one was injured.

WLUK-TV reports Grady could have gone to prison for 21 years. His defense attorney argued that Grady's history of alcohol abuse and mental illness warranted a lesser sentence.
