Eau Claire (WQOW) - An Eau Claire woman charged with leaving her young children with a teenaged babysitter for up to 10 days will spend two years on probation. That sentence was handed down Thursday for Rachel Hoyt.
Hoyt and Natasha Carter were accused of leaving their seven children with the 16-year-old sitter who had her own infant as well. Five of the children were in diapers. The oldest child was a six-year-old who told police she had to change all of the diapers.
The babysitter told police the women originally asked her to care for the kids for a weekend, but said they did not return. Police say the women also did not provide any food or diapers before they left.
Hoyt currently does not have her children, but when they are returned to her she can't leave them with anyone under 18-years-old. Carter will be in court next month.
