MADISON (WKOW) -- The Monona Grove boys swim team won its first D2 state title in school history at the UW Natatorium Friday night. The Silver Eagles knocked off McFarland, which had won the previous six titles.
Monona Grove was led by seniors Tyler Roehr and Mitchell Paull. Roehr won the 200 individual medley in a time of 1:53.35 and placed second in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 57.54. He also contributed to the winning 200 medley and freestyle relays. His anchor split of 20.67 on the 200 freestyle relay was the fastest 50 freestyle split of the meet. Paull came out of the first heat to place third in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:44.95 and also placed third in the 100 backstroke with a time of 53.10. He was also a part of the winning 200 medley relay as well as the second place 400 freestyle relay.
