TOWNSHIP OF
LEBANON (WKOW) – Dodge County authorities arrested a man after his girlfriend
claimed he pointed an AK 47 rifle at her and made threats Friday night.
Authorities
said the 29-year-old female called 911 around 11:49 p.m. to a residence on Warbler
Way in Hidden Meadows Trailer Court on Friday after reporting that her
boyfriend fired a rifle at her. As the
woman was talking to the dispatcher, she was hiding behind a neighbor's snow
bank and unaware of where her boyfriend was at the time.
Authorities
said a neighbor in the area called dispatch and reported hearing a lot of gun
shots being fired.
Dodge County
Deputies and the City of Watertown Police responded to the scene. Officers set up a perimeter at the trailer
park entrance and the Sheriff's Department SWAT Team was activated.
The
30-year-old suspect was contacted by a deputy via cell phone and eventually surrendered. Authorities found the AK 47 rifle in plain
view behind a neighbor's storage building.
Officials said the rifle had a live round inside the chamber, the safety
was off and a loaded 30 round magazine was inserted into the rifle. Deputies also found three loaded 30 round
magazines lying next to the rifle and a high powered scope was attached to the rifle.
Authorities
contacted DA Klomberg and got a search warrant for the residence.
Authorities
took the male suspect into custody and incarcerated him on numerous
charges. The female party was arrested
for obstructing and was transported to jail.
Dodge County
Sheriff's Office was assisted by the City of Watertown Police Dept and
Jefferson County Sheriff's Department Deputies remained on scene for six hours.
"All
those who responded exposed themselves to potential ambush. I would like to
single out Deputy Jamie Buelter who negotiated the man out of the home and
Deputy Jason Boeck who was able to gain the cooperation of the subject which
was of great assistance to investigators on a very cold night," said Dodge
County Sheriff Todd Nehls.
The incident
remains under investigation by the detective division.
