One person injured after structure fire near Rice Lake

Oak Grove (WQOW) - The Rice Lake Fire Department says a home in the Town of Oak Grove is a total loss after a fire Saturday night. 

Firefighters responded to a house fire along County Highway SS, a little before 7pm Saturday night. The fire department says one person was injured, but wouldn't say to what extent. No names are being released, but we do know the property is owned by Ronald and Constance Wilda. 

Firefighters were on scene for about five hours and say the house was fully engulfed when they got there.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Damages are estimated at a total of $300,000.

Oak Grove (RICE LAKE FIRE DEPT. PRESS RELEASE) - At approximately 6:49 p.m. on Saturday February 16th, 2013, the City of Rice Lake Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a structure fire at 2427 County Highway "SS" in the town of Oak Grove.

The first fire department unit at approximately 6:57 p.m.  and found a fully involved two story home with attached garage. There was heavy fire showing on both floors and through the roof of the home. The RLFD initiated an aggressive exterior attack using two 2 and 1/2 inch hand lines and one 1 and 3/4 inch hand line.

The fire was under control at approximately 8:25 p.m. The fire was called in by several people. There was one civilian injury.

Cause of the fire is under investigation by the Barron County Sheriff's Department and the RLFD.

All fire department units returned to service at 11:29 p.m.

The property is owned by Ronald and Constance Wilda. Preliminary dollar loss is estimated at $200,000 home and $100,000 contents.

One engine, two tenders, one command vehicle, and one utility vehicle responded to the fire. 15 Rice Lake firefighters responded to the incident. Mutual aid was received from the Bear Lake Haugen Fire Department with two tenders and six firefighters.
