MADISON (WKOW) -- Residents near N. Fourth and E. Johnson Streets called police late Friday night after an intoxicated woman was knocking on doors.

Officers found the woman back in her damaged vehicle.  She stated she had run out of gas.

Contact with 35-year-old Dawn Derouin, of Madison, came as another officer was investigating a hit-and-run crash.

A 24-year-old man stated he was driving on Williamson Street and about to turn onto S. Ingersoll when he was rear-ended.  He tried to pull over in order to speak with the driver, when she drove around him, striking his vehicle again before speeding off.

The victim was able to provide police with the suspect's license plate.  It turned out to be Derouin's car.

Derouin was mouthy and combative, mule kicking one arresting officer in the left thigh area, close to the groin, as he and others struggled to her in a squad car.  The suspect was arrested on tentative charges of hit and run, operating while intoxicated-2nd offense, disorderly conduct - 2 counts, and knowingly operating while revoked.
