MADISON (WKOW) -- Entrepreneurs who want to build a business in Wisconsin could soon have more access to start-up money.
Governor Scott Walker is proposing $25 million into his state budget for venture capital.
He says emerging businesses need money to grow and he wants to make it available to them, no strings attached. "The vast majority of net jobs in the state are going to come from start ups and expanding, emerging businesses in this state and we want to make this a focal point for those businesses to flourish," Walker said.
Reed Hall, CEO of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation recently said he wanted to see $100 million in the budget for venture capital, but Governor Walker says he wanted a smaller number that he knew could get legislative approval to start.
