MADISON (WKOW) -- Some parents of children with disabilities aren't happy with part of Governor Walker's voucher program that includes special needs scholarships.
The group "Stop Special Needs Vouchers" met at the Capitol Monday to demonstrate against Walker's plans that would provide some families with a state-funded special needs scholarship that would allow students to attend the school of their choice.
Joanne Juhnke of Madison says, "Tax money would flow from public schools into private schools where federal rights and protections for students with disabilities are not guaranteed."
The parents are concerned the vouchers wouldn't require private schools to accept children with disabilities and are worried about the training and services offered at private schools, which are not subject to the same regulations as public schools.
