MADISON (WKOW) -- Tuesday morning, around 1:30, a 39-year-old man heard his unlocked front door open.
The victim yelled out, "hello?" The intruder, a man of average height, approximately 200-225 pounds, fled.
The homeowner pursued him outside for a short distance. He soon realized someone had also gone through the center console of his unlocked SUV, which was parked outside his residence, in the 900 block of Lorena Parkway.
Madison police followed tracks in the snow, however, never found the suspect. He was last seen wearing a gray and white hat, a dark hooded coat and jeans.
The victim says he had not locked his front door as he hadn't gone to bed yet.
Madison police advises residents to keep their vehicles and residences locked at all times.
