UPDATE: Eau Claire man arrested for attempted homicide

Posted:

Eau Claire (WQOW) - Police say its amazing that no one was shot when at least a half dozen bullets were fired at people outside an Eau Claire bar early Saturday morning.

Rodney Craig and Shirley Heath, both of Eau Claire, were picked up Monday night when police pulled them over along Brackett Avenue. Craig was arrested for attempted murder, Heath for being a party to the crime.

Police had been looking for the pair ever since the weekend shooting outside the Idlewild bar on Eau Claire's north side. What started as an altercation in the bar, spilled outside into a fist fight.

That's when police say Craig aimed a large-caliber handgun at some people and fired at least six times at fairly close range. Surprisingly no one was hit. The shots all hit the side of the building, and one bullet went into the living room of an apartment above the bar.

Craig and Heath are in jail and will be in court Wednesday.
