Eau Claire (WQOW) - Tune your radio dial and turn up the effort to end childhood cancer.
Local country music station B-95 is involved in a national effort to raise money for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The 12th annual Radiothon begins Thursday.
Morning DJ's McKay and Donuts say your donation goes directly to help kids fighting cancer and funds cancer research.
"As the name says it's St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and that is where the bulk of the money is going. Into the research to find a cure for these pediatric illnesses," says Donuts.
Since 2001 the Radiothon has been broadcast over local airwaves. Last year a milestone was hit: to date more than a million dollars has been raised in the Chippewa Valley.
"You're helping families right here. We have had kids and families that have been right in the area that have been affected by St. Jude, that have been there. So it's a really worthy cause," says McKay.
Both DJ's have toured the hospital in Memphis, Tennessee and say it's a place of hope and healing for kids fighting cancer.
Remember, the Radiothon kicks off Thursday. You can tune in starting at 6 a.m. on 95.1 FM.
