MADISON (WKOW) -- Give yourself a little more time to get to work Friday morning -- snow overnight will make streets slick.
The latest forecast from our 27 Storm Track team calls for a total of four to six inches of snow in the Madison area, with some areas that could receive up to seven inches.
All of the viewing area is under a Winter Weather Advisory.
The heaviest snow is expected between midnight and 6:00 a.m. Friday. The snow will combine with strong winds overnight, leading to blowing and drifting in open areas to make travel even more difficult.
27 Storm Track Chief Meteorologist Bob Lindmeier says the snow's intensity should drop off around noon Friday and will get even lighter as we get into the evening.
Streets crews in Madison say they're ready for the snowfall. They planned to dispatch 30 trucks once the snow began. Streets Superintendent Chris Kelley says they'll add 30 more trucks at 6 a.m., if needed, to keep the streets clear.
The 27 Storm Track team is also forecasting flurries on Saturday with a mix of precipitation starting Sunday evening and changing into light snow Monday.
