Eau Claire (WQOW) - Some fake money leads to a real ticket for an area man.
Police say a man from Conrath walked into the RCU in Chippewa Falls Wednesday and asked for change for a bill.
He then slid a $1 million bill over the counter. Since it was obviously not real, the teller called police. They say the man told them he got it in a birthday card from his step-mom.
Police asked the man, who is 56-years-old, if he had ever heard of a $1 million bill in his entire life. They say he replied "I don't know." He then told them he thought it was a $1,000 bill and he thought it was real.
The man, who police say was cooperative and apologetic, was told he could have been arrested for passing counterfeit money. Instead he got a ticket for disorderly conduct. His $1 million bill ended up costing him a $232 fine.
