Third party the biggest spender in state Supreme Court race

Posted:

MADISON (WKOW) -- A conservative third party group dominated television ad spending in Tuesday's primary race for Wisconsin Supreme Court.

The Brennan Center for Justice tracked the spending and estimates Wisconsin Club for Growth spent more than $300,000 on TV ads supporting incumbent Justice Pat Roggensack.

Roggensack won Tuesday's primary by getting more than twice as many votes as runner up Ed Fallone, a Marquette University law professor. Vince Megna finished third in the primary voting and will not move on to the April 2 general election.

Neither Fallone nor Megna ran any TV ads before the primary. The Brennan Center says Roggensack spent about $90,000 on ads.
