UWEC Chancellor finalist withdraws, Feb. 25 open forum canceled

Posted:
EAU CLAIRE (Press Release from UW-Eau Claire) — Dr. Kathryn Cruz-Uribe has withdrawn as a finalist for the position of chancellor at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, and her Feb. 24-26 visit to the university — including a Feb. 25 open forum — has been canceled.
Cruz-Uribe, provost and vice president for academic affairs at California State University, Monterey Bay, has withdrawn from the UW-Eau Claire chancellor search process after accepting a position at another institution.
Four finalists remain in the UW-Eau Claire search. Two candidates — Dr. Kent Neely, provost and vice president for academic affairs at Western Oregon University, and Dr. Anne E. Huot, provost and vice president for academic affairs at The College at Brockport, State University of New York, visited UW-Eau Claire the week of Feb. 17.
Two more finalists will visit UW-Eau Claire the week of March 3 and will hold open forums on the following dates. The forums will be held from 2:30-4 p.m. in Schofield Auditorium:
•                     March 4: Dr. Pam Benoit, executive vice president and provost at Ohio University.
•                     March 6: Dr. James C. Schmidt, vice president for university advancement at Winona State University and executive director of the WSU Foundation board of trustees.
The four finalists will be interviewed March 20 by UW System President Kevin Reilly and a special committee of the UW System Board of Regents. Reilly and the special committee will recommend one candidate to the full Board of Regents, which must approve the appointment.
The person selected through this process will succeed former UW-Eau Claire Chancellor Brian Levin-Stankevich, who stepped down last spring to accept a new job as president of Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah. UW-Madison's Dr. Gilles Bousquet has served as UW-Eau Claire's interim chancellor since July.
More information about the UW-Eau Claire chancellor search finalists is available online atwww.uwec.edu/Employment/ChancellorSearchHome.htm.
