Polk County (WQOW) - Law enforcement in western Wisconsin is on the lookout for a man accused of swindling investors out of nearly $750,000.
Joel Carlson has just been charged in Polk County. He was last known to be living in a suburb of the Twin Cities. He operated a business called Trust Financial Group.
Investigators say an Amery couple lost $206,000 after hiring him to invest their money in securities. Instead, police say he stole the money.
They say nine investors lost a total of $734,000. Investigators say Carlson sent an apology letter to his victims in August, saying he took the money to maintain his family's unrealistic lifestyle during the economic downturn.
