Federal court orders more access to GOP computers

MADISON (WKOW) -- Groups that are suing the state over redistricting now have immediate access to computers used by the Legislature to redraw political boundaries in 2011.

Three judges in the U.S. District Court in Milwaukee made the ruling Monday.

It's the latest setback for Republican lawmakers who have many times tried to block releasing documents in the case.

The ruling says the computers are "extremely likely" to contain information that should have been disclosed before the case went to trial last year.

The judges say that it is likely some form of fraud, misrepresentation or misconduct has occurred.

The lawsuit was brought by a group of Democrats and immigrant rights group Voces de la Frontera.
