Garden of Opportunity: Group hoping to add more land for community

Eau Claire (WQOW) - The idea for another community garden in Eau Claire is growing.

A group wants to use the land next to the Lakeshore neighborhood park for the project.  The city owns about 3,000 square feet on the property.  That land could be divided into 15 x 15 foot plots for people to rent.

"With my experience downtown at that garden, we have a waiting list year round.  We've always wanted to help another garden develop, we think it adds to the value of Eau Claire as a community and it makes use of land that is owned by the city but not used for anything," said Kerri Kiernan from the Go Go Gardens Work Group.

The proposal will be pitched to city council members sometime in March once more details like price and management are worked out.
