Madison (WQOW) - A developer hopes to breathe new life into a proposed wind farm.
Earlier this month, the Public Service Commission rejected a plan for a wind farm in St. Croix County because it was concerned about noise pollution. The plan called for 44 turbines that would generate more than 100 megawatts of power.
Last week, Highland Wind Farm, LLC filed a request to have the PSC reconsider the plan. The developer says the company expected the commission to impose noise restrictions as part of a conditional approval, but did not expect the application to be denied.
Highland says it will be able to comply with any noise standards the PSC would request and hopes the commission will revisit the project at its open meeting on Friday. Highland says a decision needs to be made no later than March 25th because it is counting on a tax credit program through Xcel Energy to help finance the project.
