Press Release from the Eau Claire County Sheriff's Department:
On Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at approximately 4:20 p.m. the Eau Claire County Sheriff's responded to an accidental shooting in the 3000 block of Blakeley Ave, Town of Washington, Eau Claire County.
Deputies' investigation determined that a 21-year-old male subject was attempting to place a loaded handgun in a cardboard storage box when the handgun accidentally discharged. The male subject was struck in the left hand and a 22-year-old female subject seated next to the male was struck in the right arm.
Both subjects were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Eau Claire (WQOW) - A gun goes off in a car, injuring two people in Eau Claire.
It happened Tuesday afternoon on Eau Claire's south side. The sheriff says a man had just bought a gun and was stopping at a home on Blakeley Avenue. The sheriff says the gun accidentally fired. The bullet hit the man in the hand and also hit a woman in the arm. Both were taken to the hospital. The sheriff says their injuries are not serious. The sheriff says it was not a domestic incident and deputies are working to figure out why the gun was loaded.
