Eau Claire (WQOW) - As winter winds down the DNR is asking anglers to remove their ice shacks.
Due to varying ice conditions on lakes and rivers there are different deadlines and the rule is: everyone south of state highway 64 has until this Sunday and everyone north of 64 has until Sunday, March 17th to pull permanent shelters off the ice.
"You can still have a fishing shanty or a shelter or a portable shelter or whatever on the lake or river ice, but you have to take it with you when you leave the water," says Ed Culhane of the DNR.
Also, fishing licenses expire at the end of March.
If you'd like to buy 2013-2014 hunting, fishing or trapping licenses they go on sale next Wednesday and include discounts for first time buyers.
