CHIPPEWA FALLS - A change in hours for a local police department means a change in access for residents.
Starting Friday, the Chippewa Falls Police Department business office will open an hour and a half later, and close an hour and a half earlier.
The new hours will be from 7:30 to 4:30. The change is a result of merging dispatch centers with Chippewa County.
The first phase of that merger started this week, when the county started handling all dispatching during overnight hours. Until now there has always been someone in the police department to assist people who came by at all hours of the night.
Now, visitors can use a phone in the lobby that will connect them to the dispatch center.
