Boyceville (WQOW) - It's reading week at an area school, which served as the perfect backdrop for a surprise gift.
WQOW News 18 and RCU presented a $300 Tools for Schools award to Mrs. Hellmann's class in Boyceville. She teaches third grade at Tiffany Creek Elementary. She says the grant will be used to buy playaway sets, which can be used for audio books. "Part of our curriculum here at Tiffany Creek is Daily 5, and Daily 5 includes 'listen to reading,' and this is one avenue of listening to reading and reading to self, so there are two different ways that we can facilitate reading better," said Angela Hellmann.
Tools for Schools is a partnership between RCU and WQOW News 18. We are taking nominations for next month's $300 award. If you'd like to apply, click on "Tools for Schools" under the home category on this website.
