FULLERTON, Calif. -- One run was all it took Thursday afternoon as the Wisconsin softball team defeated Cal State Fullerton, 1-0, at Anderson Field in Fullerton, Calif. The victory extended the Badgers' winning streak to a school-record 10 games, as Wisconsin improves to 11-1 on the season.

It was tight through the first three innings as both pitchers worked no-hitters. In the top of the fourth, a Badgers' leadoff single went unused with a pair of outs at second base.

Cal State Fullerton (6-9) threatened in the bottom of the inning, taking advantage of a walk, stolen base and error to put a runner in scoring position with just one out before Cassandra Darrah worked her way out the jam with a pop out and strike out to end the inning.

With two outs in the top of the fifth, Wisconsin was got its offense going with a bunt single by Maria Van Abel. Van Abel moved to second on a wild pitch and Mary Massei walked to set the table for Stephanie Peace. After a long foul ball, Peace fought back with a RBI single through the left side to score the run.

The Titans threatened in the bottom of the sixth with the bases loaded, but Darrah came through, striking out Lauren Mario to end the inning. Darrah came up big again in the bottom of the seventh after Fullerton used a single and sacrifice bunt to get a runner in scoring position. Darrah induced a fly out and line out to end the inning.

The complete-game shutout marked the seventh win and third shutout for Darrah this season. The junior right hander pitched all 7.0 innings, allowing no runs on five hits and striking out four.

Fullerton's Jasmine Antunez suffered the loss, pitching 5.0 innings and allowing just one run on four hits and striking out two. Desiree Ybarra entered the game in relief for the Titans, pitching 2.0 innings and striking out two.

Wisconsin continues action in Fullerton, Calif., tomorrow when it participates in the Easton Invitational. The Badgers will open tournament play against No. 16 Stanford at 3:30 p.m. CT.
