MADISON (WKOW) -- Republican lawmakers plan to introduce a bill dismissing the need to renew registration on Wisconsin's no-call list designed to block telemarketers.
The bill being circulated for co-sponsorship would make registration of a phone number on the state's no-call list permanent, instead of requiring it to be renewed every two years. Registration on the federal list is permanent and more than a dozen states have permanent enrollment.
The proposal from Republican Representative Andre Jacques would also add robocalls to those not allowed for people on the registry. However, political calls would still be allowed. Calls from nonprofits and those made with a person's permission or at their request are also allowed.
