Eau Claire (WQOW) - The automatic federal spending cuts taking effect on Friday night could have air show fans feeling blue.
The Blue Angels could be forced to cancel every performance through the end of September if the funding is not restored. The U.S. Navy's demonstration team has a show planned for Eau Claire on September 7th and 8th.
Lt. Katie Kelly, Blue Angels Public Affairs Officer, told WQOW News 18 that a memo from the Department of Navy said air shows in the 3rd and 4th quarter would be called off if the cuts went into effect. Lt Kelly said she is still holding out hope they can reach some kind of agreement to keep the Angels flying this summer.
