Fatal shooting in Adams County


CITY OF ADAMS (WKOW) -- The Adam's County Sheriff's Office says a 27-year-old woman is dead after a fatal shooting in the City of Adams early Saturday morning.

Authorities got a call at 1:48 a.m. from a man who said he was asleep in bed when his girlfriend startled him. He said he shot her with a shot gun that he kept next to the bed.

When first responders arrived, the woman was pronounced dead on the scene. The Adams County Sheriff's Office has identified the shooter as 28-year-old Coleman Dybul of Adams. The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Toni Voss of Adams.

Coleman Dybul was placed under arrest for 1st degree reckless homicide and remains in custody. Authorities say a young child was also home at the time of the incident and is now with a family member.

The investigation remains ongoing.
