Verona boys' hockey falls short at state championship


MADISON, WI (WKOW) -- The Verona boys' hockey team suffered a disappointing loss Saturday during its first trip to the state championship.

Verona faced off against Eau Claire Memorial.

The Wildcats got on the board first with a goal from Zach Jones. But Eau Claire would score six unanswered goals to take the state title, 6-1.

Verona knocked off Green Bay Notre Dame on Friday to advance to the championship.
