FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (WKOW) -- A former University of Wisconsin club soccer player made history on Sunday as the first woman to ever try out for the NFL.
Unfortunately, Lauren Silberman's NFL tryout lasted just two kicks due to an injury.
The 28-year-old is the first woman to compete at an NFL regional scouting combine.
She left the New York Jets' practice field after injuring her quadriceps. She tried two kickoffs, the first going 19 yards and the second about 13 yards, then asked to see a trainer.
Silberman said before tryouts that even though she knows she's a long-shot pick for the NFL, she's still one kick closer to achieving her goal.
"Even if this doesn't work out, I can contribute and strengthen the league one day in a different way," says Silberman.
