Indianapolis, IN (WQOW) -- For the first time since 1989, the UW-Eau Claire men's hockey team will play in the NCAA Division 3 Tournament.
The Blugolds missed out on a chance to earn an automatic bid into the tournament on Saturday, when it fell to St. Norbert in the Peters Cup Championship game. But UWEC's body of work was more than enough to clinch an at-large bid.
The Blugolds will host St. John's in the opening round on Wednesday, March 6th at 7:00 p.m. Eau Claire beat the Johnnies 5-1 back on January 4th. The winner of the first round game will travel to face St. Norbert in the quarterfinals on Saturday, March 9th.
