JANESVILLE (WKOW) -- Police in Janesville say they've arrested the driver they believe is responsible for a fatal crash that killed a Fitchburg woman.
Officers arrested Bruce Hohenstein, 54, of Janesville on Monday. They say Hohenstein will likely face criminal charges of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and injury by intoxicated use of a vehicle.. He'll also be ticketed for causing injury/operation while intoxicated and operating left of the center line.
The crash happened on Highway 11 in Janesville around 4 p.m. Sunday. Investigators say Hohenstein's vehicle crossed the center line and hit another vehicle head-on.
The driver of the oncoming vehicle, 33-year-old Amy Johnson of Fitchburg, was killed. A 20-year-old passenger in Johnson's car was critically hurt. She is now in the hospital in stable condition.
JANESVILLE (WKOW) -- One person dies after a head-on vehicle accident.
The Janesville Police Department says the accident happened on the Afton Road bridge over State Highway 11 about 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Afton Road was shut down for over six hours on Sunday.
The driver in one of the cars was a 55-year-old man, who sustained critical injuries, but is in stable condition.
The other vehicle involved had two occupants, a 20-year-old female passenger who sustained critical injuries. She was taken to Mercy Hospital and is in stable condition. The driver of the car died at the scene. The names of the people involved in the accident have not been released.
Janesville police say alcohol was a factor in the crash.
