Eau Claire (WQOW) - Police say a woman who claimed she was ripped off while trying to buy a dog was actually trying to buy drugs.
Chanina Whitecloud called Eau Claire police Saturday afternoon to report that she had gone to a home on Meridian Heights Drive Friday night. Detectives say she told them she gave the residents $850 to buy their miniature Doberman Pinscher, but that they fled with her money and she didn't get the dog.
Police say further investigation showed she wasn't at the house to buy a dog and was actually trying to buy drugs. Whitecloud was arrested for lying to an officer and possessing marijuana. Police are still looking for the people who made off with her money.
