Madison (WQOW) -- With Wisconsin starting spring football practice Saturday, head coach Gary Andersen has a spot on his coaching staff to fill.
tight ends and special teams Jay Boulware just left last Friday to take a similar position at Oklahoma. Andersen takes full responsibility, saying he made a bad hire.
"I don't like the timing of it," says Andersen, "I don't like the situation we're in at all. but we'll get a coach in here that's excited about Wisconsin football and who wants to be here in the worst way and who will do a great job. and we'll rebound very quickly."
Andersen says quarterback Jon Budmayr has decided to stop playing football because of persistent arm and shoulder problems. Budmayr will be a volunteer student coach.
