Eau Claire (WQOW) - The Eau Claire man accused of murdering his neighbor is back in court.
On Tuesday, James Olson entered a plea of innocent by insanity. Olson is charged in the death last summer of Paul Oberle. Oberle was ambushed as he walked from his car to his house on Vine Street. Olson allegedly hit Oberle in the head with a crowbar.
In January a judge found Olson was competent to stand trial as long as he continues taking his medication. Tuesday's insanity plea means Olson will be examined by a psychiatrist to determine if he was mentally able to conform his conduct to the law or to appreciate the wrongfulness of his conduct at the time of the murder. Another court hearing is set for April.
