Eau Claire (WQOW)- More than 20 companies are meeting with job seekers in Eau Claire at CVTC's Manufacturing Show.
Manufacturing is one area where high-paying jobs are available. Companies are looking to bridge the skills gap by recruiting new workers in welding, engineering and other fields. The showcase comes at a time when national companies are investing more money into "Made in the USA" products, which has also helped give manufacturing a boost. For example, Walmart says it make a $50 billion investment in products made in our country over the next 10 years. It's a trend companies say continues to gain momentum.
"We are a case in point of it. We are a custom job shop. We've hired 380 people in the last three years in the western Wisconsin area. So it's booming," explains OEM Fabricator's Andy Hennes. "There are job opportunities and it's great. Skilled manufacturing is where the jobs are."
The event began at 3 p.m. and will run until 8 p.m. at CVTC's Business Center on Alpine Road.
