The WIAA girls state basketball tournament tips off on Thursday. Five area teams will play on Saturday for the right to play at the Resch Center.

Owen-Withee is one of those teams. The team is headed to its second-straight sectional final game. Last year, the Blackhawks finished as the division five runner-up. To head back to state, they'll need to knock off an undefeated South Shore squad. Head coach Al Guthman says he has confidence in his club.

"It's our goal every year to get to the state tournament and we have one more game to do it. I wouldn't bet anything against them," says Guthman. "These kids have been playing well all year, but especially in this tournament trail. So I think they'll be ready on Saturday, everything is at stake."

Owen-Withee and South Shore square off in Spooner at 7:00 p.m.

There are a pair of teams alive in division four. Colfax is looking to make the program's third trip to state. To do so, they'll need to get by Colby in a sectional final at Chippewa Falls.

On the other side of the bracket, Mondovi has not been to state since 1994. That can change with a win over Cuba City in Baraboo. That game tips off at 2:30 p.m.

Division three pits a pair of local teams against each other. Neillsville won a state title in division four a year ago. The Warriors look to make it back to state at the expense of Ladysmith. That game will be played in River Falls at 7:00 p.m.
