MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Dane County deputies who responded to a domestic altercation this week say they arrived to find two small children home alone surrounded by broken glass.
Authorities are looking for the 25-year-old mother of the kids, who are 4 years old and 18 months old.
Someone called 911 late Thursday evening to report hearing yelling and items being broken inside the Village of Cambridge home. Deputies found the 18-month-old sleeping on a floor amid broken glass from a mirror and other household items.
The children's father later returned home and told deputies an argument between the couple had gotten out of control. He said the children's mother began to throw and break things so he left. The mother later left as well, leaving the kids alone and the door unlocked.
