Eau Claire (WQOW) --Before departing for the NCAA Division III Frozen Four, the UW-Eau Claire men's hockey team holds a final practice at Hobbs Ice Center Tuesday afternoon.

Because the Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, New York, is an Olympic-sized ice sheet, UWEC  is working on power play situations with the nets set up along the side boards.

"For me, personally, it changes a little bit," says Blugolds senior goalie Brandon Stephenson, "with my angles and what not, but for the most part, you know, it's just a little bit wider from the dots out, so you know, we're not going to be changing too much of our game. We do have to account for it, but it's something that they're minor tweaks, it shouldn't be too much of a problem for us."

The Blugolds say, up to this point, they haven't spent a whole lot of time scouting Utica, their national semifinal opponent, but they have talked about achieving their ultimate goal, which is winning a national title.

"They're an east coast team," says UWEC senior forward Jordan Singer, "not many west teams go out there and play them so it's kind of hard to get some feedback on them and stuff like that, we'll probably scout them when we're out there, talk about them but right now we're just worrying about our own game plan."

The first Frozen Four semifinal will pit 2010 national champ Norwich (VT) versus 2007 NCAA winner Oswego State (NY). Then, it'll be UW-Eau Claire versus Utica (NY), at 6:30 P.M. (CDT).  The winners will face off for the Division III national title Saturday at 6:00 P.M. (CDT).
