WASHINGTON (WKOW) -- NASA scientists are celebrating a big discovery, life may have existed on Mars.
The discovery is based on tests from rock samples gathered by the Curiosity rover.
Scientists were able to find minerals that indicate an environment that could have supported small organisms and slightly salty, liquid water.
"Probably if this water was around and you would have been on the planet, you would have been able to drink it," says Curiosity project scientist John Grotzinger.
Photos taken by the rover also show a lake bed scientists say was filled with sediment derived by streams.
NASA says curiosity will perform more drilling in May.
