A parking change in downtown Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE - It should now be a little easier to find a parking spot in downtown Eau Claire.

On Friday, the city removed the signs designating loading zones for trucks on Barstow, and on Graham. The move opens up about 20 parking spaces downtown.

Those loading zones were put in place last September when two-way traffic was started on those streets. But the city's parking utility says residents were accidentally parking in the loading zones, and getting tickets.

And with cars parked in the loading zones, some delivery trucks were forced to double-park on the streets, which is illegal, and affected traffic flow.

City officials say truck drivers making deliveries will now have to figure out where to park on their own. The city will monitor the situation for the next several months to see how well it's working.
