UPDATE: Family members identify 2 boys killed in fire

Posted:

WEST ALLIS (WKOW) -- Family members have identified the two boys killed in a West Allis fire.

They are Michael Gonzales and Isaiha Kobow, both 14, according to WISN 12 News in Milwaukee. WISN also reports the Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives will not investigate the duplex fire that killed those boys and injured two others Sunday morning.

Family members say the boys were at a sleep over Saturday into Sunday. William Kobow, Isaiha's father, held a photo of his son at a Sunday night vigil. "He was an awesome kid. He was excelling in school, ready to go to high school (and) play basketball," Kobow told WISN.

Two other children, brothers, were injured in the blaze. West Allis fire officials said the 14-year-old boy rescued his four-year-old brother, then tried to go back into the house to get the others, but the flames were too intense.

Officials at Children's Hospital said the teen was in fair condition, but they had no information on the four-year-old sibling.

WEST ALLIS (WKOW) -- Authorities says two boys died in a duplex fire in the Milwaukee suburb of West Allis early Sunday.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports three brothers and a friend were alone in the upper level of the duplex when it caught fire. Two of the brothers survived, while one brother and the friend did not.

The two who survived were taken to Children's Hospital of Wisconsin in Wauwatosa, but officials say they did not appear to be seriously hurt.

Police say the fire call came in shortly after 3:30 a.m. Sunday

The cause remains under investigation and authorities did not immediately release the names of the young victims.
