Police ask gun owners to be responsible

BELOIT (WKOW) -- Beloit police are asking gun owners to take action to secure their weapons, after a burglary in town.

Beloit police say on March 13th burglars broke a window of a home on Cleveland Avenue and took a number of valuable items, including two televisions, a laptop, several hundred rounds of ammunition, holsters and gun parts. Five guns were taken, including two rifles, a shot gun, a handgun and a revolver.

Police ask everyone who owns a weapon to be a conscientious owner. They suggest locking guns securely, record serial numbers and keep them in a safe place in the home. Serial numbers are needed to recover a stolen gun.
