Eau Claire (WQOW) - The fresh
snow has made for a slippery day on the road. The state patrol says it's been
called to more than a dozen slide-ins across northwest Wisconsin. A semi jackknifed along the
interstate near Menomonie. In Jackson
County, a rollover was
one of ten area crashes that troopers have responded to. The state patrol says
none of the accidents involved life threatening injuries. Once the snow stops
falling, the state patrol says it could lead to other problems.
"Where the
challenge gets into is in regards to dropping temperatures. Now we usually
don't have much of an issue with drifting. But what happens with the snow going
across the interstate is that you get the glazing affect. And it kind of looks
like it's just wet, but a lot of times it's like black ice. And that's a real
difficult thing because not only is it slippery but people don't realize it's
slippery," said Lt. Jeff Lorentz of the Wisconsin State Patrol.
The state patrol says if you have to
travel Monday night, give yourself plenty of time to get where you need to be.
