Local GOP leader elected to regional post

Press Release from Eau Claire County GOP

Republican Party of Eau Claire County Chairman Brian Westrate won a top regional leadership role with the state party Saturday when a unanimous ballot was cast by over 175 delegates from all 18 counties included in the Third District electing him to the position of Chairman of the 3rd District Republican Party. The vote was held at the annual Third District caucus in Tomah.

It also means he'll be a member of the state GOP's executive committee where he will join another Eau Claire native Laurie Forcier who also serves as a member of the 31 member Republican Party of Wisconsin Executive Committee.

"I'm looking forward to using what I've learned as the chairman in Eau Claire to take the 3rd District to the next level." Westrate said. "We're going to work hard to prove to the voters in western and central Wisconsin that the GOP is the party of maximum personal liberty and economic prosperity."

The Republican Party of La Crosse Chairman Julian Bradley was elected 3rd District Vice-Chairman Saturday. Westrate and Bradley will begin their new roles immediately after the Republican Party of Wisconsin state convention in Wausau May 3-5.

The 3rd District Republican Party matches the 3rd Congressional District, spanning part or all of 18 counties in western and central Wisconsin.

After serving for two years as a member of the local Executive Committee Westrate was elected to a two year term as Chairman of the Republican Party of Eau Claire County in 2009, 2011, and again this past February.
